I’m Just Getting Started

Accepting the iHeart Radio ICON award, Jennifer Lopez is a VIBE.  At 52 years old and having conquered so many industries, milestones and men she concluded her acceptance speech:

“Icon! Icon! I can overcome negativity,” she said. “And so can you, every single moment. And let me tell you something else, I’m just getting started. I love you!”

 I, for one, am here for each of us getting started whenever and however we want.  What a refreshing way to look at the next decade, career, week or single decision.  We can all start over or re-start any time WE want.

It’s so important to not pinhole ourselves into who we are, what we are, or more importantly what we aren’t or can’t be….what is that nonsense?  Everything can change and we have the right to change ourselves as many times and as often as we want. 

I am immediately struck by a Beyonce quote as I wrote  that last line, “you know you that bitch when you cause all this conversation.”  YES QUEEN….they are gonna talk, might as well make it work for you just like Bey and Jlo.

I challenge each of us to think about what we can get started on this year.  Rebecca and I are proud of launching FIERCE but WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED and have a long list of things to do to make our vision of FIERECE a reality.
